Unscripted Lives is a funny, uplifting, heartwarming documentary that follows the triumphs and setbacks as Woodstock and Zack’s Place (its enrichment center for individuals with disabilities) attempt to stage an original musical theater production together. The film features a rich lineup of local town merchants, artisans, teachers, state legislators and the chief of police rehearsing and acting alongside the Zack’s Place participants, offering a timely look at what true community looks like. In addition, the film follows several of the Zack’s Place participants home, giving an intimate look into their lives and those of their families and caregivers.
Just completing its festival run, Unscripted Lives has resonated with audiences from Carmel, California to Ramsgate, UK. In addition to a sold-out screening at the White River Indie Festival (WRIF), the film won Best Documentary at the Catalina Film Festival, and, of all 268 films screened at the Cinequest film festival in the heart of Silicon Valley, Unscripted Lives was singled out as “the festival’s most inspiring and transformative film” thereby winning the Kaiser Permanente Thrive Award.
