Pentangle Players Fall Musical: THE WIZARD OF OZ

Now scheduling auditions!  Saturday, June 8 and Tuesday, June 11

Follow the Yellow Brick Road to your chance to be on-stage for Oz!  Pentangle Players is looking for talented and enthusiastic cast members for our fall production - auditions are scheduled for Saturday, June 8 (10am - 1pm) and Tuesday, June 11 (4-7pm).  All ages and vocal ranges are needed for this exciting show, directed by rLee Adams.  Rehearsals begin in September, and shows are scheduled for Oct. 25, 26, 30 & Nov. 1-3.

Seeking Actors for the Following Roles:

  • Aunt Em / Glinda:  (30-45) Aunt Em is demanding, but loves her niece.  Non-singing.  Glinda is the Good Witch of the North. Benevolent and beloved.  Strong soprano or mezzo.

  • Uncle Henry / Emerald City Guard: (40-60) Dorothy’s pleasant uncle. Non-singing.  Nonplussed Guard. Strong character actor with comedic skills.  Baritone to F.

  • Dorothy Gale: (Ages 13 – 25) are invited to audition to play a young teenager) Young Kansas girl, in search of something more. Singer who moves well. Not allergic to dogs!  Mezzo with a nice mix

  • Hunk/Scarecrow: (25-45) Plucky and clever in a pinch, even while lacking a brain. Strong actor with an honest quality. Excellent dancer – acrobatic skills a bonus. Strong baritone to F.

  • Hickory/Tin Man:(30-50) Desperate for a heart. A kind-hearted romantic. Wears silver face makeup. Singing and dance required. Strong baritone / tenor to G.

  • Zeke/ Cowardly Lion: (30-50) A mix of bravado and cowardice. Should Move well. Cuddly actor with excellent comic timing. Vocal range: Strong baritone to F.

  • Almira Gulch/ Wicked Witch of the West:(35-55)  Nasty but fun. May fly. Non-singing.

  • Professor Marvel/Wizard: (50-65) Older father figure with an eccentric flair. Basic conjuring or sleight of hand a bonus. Non-Singing.

    : Please prepare Marvel Side and Wizard Side, downloadable below.  There is no song side.

  • Munchkins:  (ages 9-17)  The little people of Munchkinland. Long oppressed, and happy to be freed, the Munchkins will (mostly) be played by children. Group singing and coordinated movement required. Dance experience a plus. There are some featured roles among the munchkins, such as The Mayor, The Coroner, The Lollipop Guild, and The Lullaby league. Note that the Children’s chorus may be double-cast with teams alternating performances.
    FOR AUDITION
    : Please prepare bars 60 through143 of the Munchkin Song Side, downloadable below. There is no acting side, though auditioners may be asked to read lines at the auditions.

  • Flying Monkeys / Citizens of Oz / Poppies / Winkies (chorus): The adult chorus of the show. Singing and movement required. Some Oz-ians will also be featured dancers.
    FOR AUDITION:
    There is no acting side or song side to prepare; auditioners may be asked to demonstrate vocal range and movement.
